Artist Statement

My mixed media paintings have evolved from my interest in color theory, the dichotomy of light and shadow, and the textures and patterns that are observed in the world around us. The industrial feel of the textures and pattern juxtaposed against the more organic circular texture and strong color pallet, creates a sense of controlled chaos. The circular cutouts represent depth through absence, affecting light and shadow with in the architectural space.
Through my artwork I would like to evoke the feeling that in this post-modern world one can find harmony, beauty and balance within a complicated multilayered existence.
