Biography

Jen Bowles started her journey in the arts as a classically trained vocalist, going to Southern California in pursuit of a music degree.  She returned to her hometown of Bakersfield, California to tend to family obligations. This move turned out to be prudent for Jen, as it shifted her artistic focus to the visual arts. She enrolled in the Arts Program at California State University, Bakersfield, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree of Art in 2005. 

Jen's approach to her paintings is innovative but stems from her artistic upbringing. Her grandfather was a photography teacher and mother was a ceramics artist. Her art demonstrates her family's influence; as well as, drawing inspiration from Abstract Expressionism.

Jen's life took another transition in 2006 with the unexpected loss of her mother. Seeking solace in her paintings, Jen's passion for the arts continues to be a constant in her life.

Painting since 2006, Jen has been in numerous exhibits from California to New York. She was featured in Art Business News in 2008, and her artwork is in public and private collection throughout the United States. She now resides in Houston, Texas.
